JOHOR BAHRU: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) continued its audit program language and asked all local authorities (PBT) refers to the institution in order to avoid contamination of the Malay language, especially in the use of billboards.
Deputy Director General (Policy) of DBP, Datuk Abang Salahuddin Abang Shokeran, said that so far there are more than 15 local authorities to check the use of language by the institution before issuing the license.
He said the confirmation of the right of use of the Malay language that can be done online where the DBP will give approval within 24 hours.
"The language audit is still ongoing and a paper was presented the National Council for Local Government which requires local authorities to request revisions to the language aspect DBP before licenses (ad) removed.
"It was implemented two years ago and received the cooperation of local authorities including Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB).
We ask for the cooperation of local authorities in order to preserve and uphold the Malay language as the national language, "he said after the Discourse of Civilizations: Culture and Literature of Human Capital Development and Launch of the 2016 Writer Johor Johor Heritage Foundation, today.
Abang Salahuddin said that most billboards using the Malay language that is inaccurate or incorrect involving illegal advertising boards and local authorities are required to take immediate action to tackle the problem.
