TAX ASSESSMENT

Door tax is a tax imposed on owners and occupiers of rateable holding situated in the area of jurisdiction of the Council.

Estimated tax to be paid 2 times a year:

  • ½ years of first - 1HB. January to 28hb. February.
  • ½ second year - 1st. July to 31st August. Aug in every year.

Estimated tax paid after the due date will be charged 1% per month or part thereof.

EFFECTS IF NO SETTLEMENT WITHIN THE DUE DATE

According to Act 171, you will be penalized -Action as follows:

  • Notice (Form E) will be issued to you. You are required to explain within 1 day from the date hereof. A fine of 2% of the outstanding balance will be charged to you in accordance with Section 147 (1).
  • If that fails, an arrest warrant will be issued to you. These warrants allow the Council to seize goods that are in the building or close the building from operating or auction premises through Registrar of the High Court under Section 151. Payment of 10 percent of the warrants will also be charged.

Pay immediately before the 28th. February - 31st. August in every year to avoid fines or court action

ASSESSMENT IS DIFFERENT AND NOT THE SAME

The difference in value of the tax assessment was due to: -

  • Floor area
  • Locations
  • Construction materials
  • Usefulness
